The Sustainability concept and principle has been and continues to be a big idea for us as a preschool, for us, sustainability is more than recycling.

• Environmental sustainability focuses on caring for our natural world and protecting, preserving and improving the environment.

• Social sustainability is about inclusion and living peacefully, fairly and respectfully together in resilient local and global communities.

• Economic sustainability refers to practices that support economic development without negatively impacting the other dimensions.

As a preschool we have determined to expand our understanding of sustainability past environmental sustainability and our role in teaching children about sustainability to now include a broader and embracing practice where children are taught not only about the importance of environmental sustainability but also social and economic sustainability and to engage with concepts of social justice, fairness, sharing, democracy and citizenship.
