2019 Graduation

By | Uncategorized | No Comments

This year we had 39 children Graduate to Kindergarten. It was a wonderful evening full of excitement, joy and pride. The children celebrated this special milestone event by walking down the red carpet wearing their preschool graduation outfits in front of their family and friends. Our preschool philosophy has as its core ‘play’ as the vehicle for learning and our children are moving from our unique and very ‘wonderful’ educational setting to much larger settings where the focus will still be on learning but the vehicle it will use will change and the focus on play will no longer be at the core. We wish all our graduates the freedom to be all they dream to be, and the confidence to use the voice within them, to share kindness.

New Mural by Local Yuin Artists Natalie Bateman and Alison Walker.

We recently commissioned Natalie Bateman a local Yuin Artist to complete a beautiful outdoor mural depicting the the Dreamtime Song of Gulaga, the story of our local area. Together with local sisters Alison and Maria Walker the girls created a beautiful art piece that was the backdrop to our 2019 Graduation Ceremony. This year we invited Layton Moore to do the Welcome to Country. Layton wore a headpiece in his personal Totem of the Magpie and wore a Possum Cloak symbolic of the mist that cloaks Gulaga. He spoke the Welcome in Dhurga Language, the traditional language of the Yuin people. This was then followed by Paeje Mathie who led the children in an Acknowledgement to Country.

Visiting Estia Health Villiage

By | Uncategorized | No Comments

Every second Monday we take a small group of preschool children to visit a group of residents at the Dalmeny Estia Retirement Village. Steve picks us up in the bus and brings us back to preschool which is a wonderful part of our morning visit for the children. When we get to Estia our friends are very keen to spend time with the children. We share a small part of our day with our new friends. The children play board games, draw, build with construction sets, sing dance and read stories. The most important part of our session is that the children are just being in the moment with the residents and the residents beam with joy at the children being children and allowing them to share in their day.

Mad Scientist Night! Recognising Dad’s, Grandpa’s and significant males in the lives of our preschoolers.

This year we once again held our annual Mad Scientist Evening and as usual it was a real hit with our families. The night was filled with wild science fun, mess and laughter! It was a joy to be part of such a wonderful evening. Next year we will be able to roast our marshmallows around our family meeting place firepit! Our dad’s always end up outdoors so next year we will take them outdoors.

Fish Finders

In Term 3 we had an incursion from the Fish Finders! They came to our preschool and talked to the children about our local water ways and how to care for them and the creatures who live in them. The children also learnt how to do the ‘pipi’ dance to the lastest dance song ‘Baby Shark! Next the children raced fresh water yabbi’s and Lightening won the day. This was a wonderful morning of learning, interaction and fun. Thank you Fish Finders and our host Jason.

Parent Evening : Nurturing Boys

By | Uncategorized | No Comments

On Wednesday evening of the 22nd of May, 2019 we invited parents and carers to an information event around the topic of ‘Nurturing Boys’. The evening was a wonderful opportunity for parents and carers to come together and share concerns and the joys of nurturing their boys. It was also a time to gain new insight to support parenting skills, strategies and knowledge.
